Get ready to see something new and exciting on Canal Street! Starting Saturday, May 10 and running through July 6, the famous thoroughfare will transform some of the most iconic and historic buildings into an enchanting outdoor art gallery with the debut of “Windows on Canal,” a brand-new public art experience presented by Celebrate Canal! in partnership with Where y’Art.
At each installation, viewers can scan a QR code to unlock an interactive online experience. Dive deeper into the history of the buildings, get a peek into the artists’ creative process and follow Scrim’s narrated journey – brought to life by the unmistakable voice of New Orleans legend, Ivan Neville.

Discover the captivating historical and visual heritage of one of New Orleans’ most iconic thoroughfares – Canal Street!
Your experience begins with registration at the beautifully restored Hotel One11 (111 Iberville St.) where you will board an open-top double-decker bus for an immersive two-hour guided tour with breathtaking perspectives and insightful commentary by two of the city’s foremost voices in architecture and urban development – John C. Williams and Ryan Bordenave.
John C. Williams, founder of Williams Architects, is a nationally recognized preservationist with a passion for blending historic charm with modern functionality. His firm has spearheaded the restoration of iconic buildings including The Ritz-Carlton, Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter – Astor and Brennan’s Restaurant, to name a few.
Ryan Bordenave is a real estate professional and urban strategist that brings a deep knowledge of Canal Street’s evolution. Having worked for the Downtown Development District for 14-years, he focused his energy on several Canal Street initiatives including retail recruitment, historic faced restoration, building signage and aesthetic enhancements, sidewalk dining and art installations.
Whether you’re a resident eager to reconnect with one of New Orleans’ most iconic thoroughfares or a visitor seeking an enriching experience, this tour offers a fresh perspective on Canal Street’s significance as a cultural and economic centerpiece of New Orleans.
