Alexandra Holliday, Development & Policy Strategist

Alexandra Holliday is a committed researcher, strategist, and advocate for sustainable economic development through maritime trade and urban revitalization. Hailing from Louisiana, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Government and Sociology from Georgetown University.

After gaining valuable experience on Capitol Hill and in the fashion industry—where she developed a keen insight into global supply chains and the principles of the circular economy—Alexandra shifted her focus toward transportation policy and urban studies. She completed her Master’s degree in Transportation from the University of New Orleans and is currently pursuing a PhD in Urban Studies at UNO. Her doctoral research delves into the modernization of the U.S. maritime industry and explores how these changes impact the urban landscape of port cities.

Dedicated to fostering place-based economic renewal, Alexandra contributes to the Celebrate Canal! Coalition, where she formulates strategies to transform New Orleans’ historic Canal Street into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly, and economically resilient corridor.

Outside her academic and professional endeavors, Alexandra has a passion for the arts, travel, and building community connections. In New Orleans, she finds inspiration in the city’s rich cultural heritage, often exploring its waterfronts, neighborhoods, and the creative communities that contribute to its distinctive character.
